About Estero Bay Preserve State Park

The bay is home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, and visitors can canoe and kayak along the bay and the Estero River. The reserve is protected by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Florida Department of Natural Resources and the State of Florida.

One kilometer of hiking trails offer visitors the opportunity to hike and study the diversity of protected flora and fauna. Start-ups are available at Estero Bay Preserve State Park daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Estero Bay Preserve State Park, one of Florida's largest living oaks, is home to more than 1,000 species of live oak and a variety of native plants and animals.

Originally called the Estero Bay State Buffer Preserve, the land was purchased to protect the Esteros Bay Aquatic Preserves from the impact of development. The water buffer zone is managed by the Department of Recreation and Parks (DRP), which manages the reserve, and on January 1, 2004 it became known as EstersoBay Preserving State Park. Aquatics Pres Reserve in Etero Bay was the first water reserve to be designated under the Florida Statutes. Egerobay's BayPreserve State Park covers about 10,000 hectares and continues to grow as more ecologically sensitive areas are acquired.

The protection of water quality in Estero Bay has been a key focus of the partnership between CAMA and DRP. The historical site of Koreshan has a boat ramp on the Esterso River, but for those who want to go by boat, kayak or canoe, the nature reserve has behaved without such facilities. This water reserve is still managed by Cama and is part of BayPreserve State Park in Egerobay.

Public access is at the intersection of Corkscrew Rd and Estero Bay Rd in Egerobay, south of Esterso. Go west on Corkcrew Road, turn left on Corkels Rd, then west on Broadway and turn right on the road to the BayPreserve State Park entrance on Bay Preserve Road.

The entrance to Estero Bay Preserve State Park is located at the intersection of Corkscrew Rd and Corkels Rd in Egerobay, south of Esterso, and BayPreserve Road.

Turn left south on Summerlin Rd and turn right on Corkscrew Rd, then right on BayPreserve Road and then left on Bay Preserve Rd. Turn left and south onto Summerlins Rd, turn left onto Baypreserve Road and right onto Estero Bay.

Turn south and left on Winkler Road and turn right on Corkscrew Rd And then right off Bay Preserve Rd. At the end is public access to Estero Bay State Park on the east side of the park and the west end of BayPreserve Road.

The Preserve Office is located in Koreshan, on the east side of the park near the intersection of US 41 and Corkscrew Rd. It is located at the end of BayPreserve Road, south of Corkcrew Road and east of Estero Bay State Park. Turn left off Baypreserve Rd to go two miles west, cross the US41 and then turn right onto Bay Preserving Rd and turn right onto Corkescrew Drive.
