Don Vicente Martinez of Ybor came to the border of Tampa and built the city that became the cigar capital of the world. At the beginning of the 20th century, the town of Ybor flourished as a tourist destination for cigar lovers and cigar lovers.

The museum, which houses the historic Ferlita bakery, traces the history of the cigar industry in the city of Ybor City, Florida. The city park is dedicated to Don Vicente Martinez and his cigar empire, the Ybour City Museum State Park.

The museum has self-guided exhibits and written information about the history of the cigar industry in the city of Ybor. The ornamental garden can be rented for events during regular parking hours, and guided tours are offered from Monday to Saturday.

The hotel is located on the second floor of the Ybor City Museum State Park, next to the Cigar Museum and the ornamental garden in the park.

Ybor City was a thriving Latin community from the opening of the first factory in 1886 until the 1930s, and was considered the most important city in the United States for its cigar production. The Ybor cigar factory was the largest in the world, employing more than 1,000 workers and more than 2,500 employees. It was founded and owned by one of Florida's most famous cigar makers, John F.

Kennedy. The State Park and Ybour City Museum are open daily from 10 am to 4 pm and 12 pm to 5 pm, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm.

In the last years of the 19th century, Ybor City became a center of support for the Cuban revolution.

Cuba gained independence on August 12, 1898, and when the war between the United States and Spain broke out in 1898, the army stationed thousands of men in Ybour City, including soldiers from the US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Navy. Immigrant health services are the earliest known example of immigrant health care in Florida.

The Latin community of Ybor flourished for many years, but technology began to decompose at its core. Machine competition and the popularity of cigarettes during the Depression led to the decline of the cigar industry in Ybour City. Unemployment soared, factories closed, families moved away and unemployment soared. The museum houses the historic Ferlita bakery and tells the story of the village from its beginnings as a cigar factory to its final demise.

The museum is located in the heart of Ybour City State Park, just blocks from the historic Ferlita Bakery and café.

The parking garage is located at 15th Street and 5th Avenue and is 6 blocks diagonally from the museum. Parking is also available in the Ybour City Museum State Park parking garage, located in front of the Ferlita Bakery and Café on the west side of Ybor City Park. The parking garages are located south of I-275, north of Interstate 4 and east of 5th Avenue. Take I / 275 north or south of I-4 and follow the above directions to 275.
