About Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park

From 1774 to 1796, this thoroughfare brought more than 200,000 settlers from the eastern colonies to the western border, some of whom followed the route of the James River and its tributary, the Mississippi. But dangers lurked along the way, as they did here in 1786 and in the 1790s and 180s.

Relax and discover Kentucky's groundbreaking heritage at Levi Jackson State Park, with a 146-seat campsite set amidst open woodland. The park covers more than 800 hectares and includes the Mountain Life Museum, which takes visitors to the pioneering settlement. Comfort campsites offer access to a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, camping and hiking.

The campsites are open all year round, but there is a caveat: guests must check in at 1 pm Eastern time. Pets are not allowed in the park if they have not been kept in an appropriate manner and must be checked in by midday.

Group campsites are open all year round and can be reserved up to a year in advance and have activity buildings. Levi Jackson is a fun filled, family friendly campsite with a variety of activities for children and adults.

The minimum fee is $20 per person for up to 20 people, and this is complemented by a $5 per person camping fee for children under 5 and $10 for adults.

The rent for group cabins must include the rent for the clubhouse, and a separate fee is charged, which varies depending on the time of day and frequency of the week.

The new pool and water slide are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and the new pools and water slides are open all day. On a hot summer day, take a dip in the communal pool, one of the many outdoor pools, or on the picnic area on site.

The opening hours are from 12 to 19.30, on weekends from 9 to 17 and from 22 to 18.

From 1774 to 1796, more than 200,000 pioneers crossed the wilderness road from Boone to Boone.

Visitors to the park can follow in the footsteps of these early pioneers on an eight-kilometre trail that includes original sections of this historic passage.

On the night of October 3, 1786, the McNitt Party was part of a bloody massacre in India in which at least 24 people were killed. It was the worst mass shooting in Kentucky history and one of the largest mass shootings in U.S. history.

A monument has been erected in Levi Jackson Park to the McNitt Party, and the Mountain Life Museum is taking visitors to the pioneer settlement.

The buildings of the settlement were moved to other places and erected as replicas in the park. The buildings are filled with pioneer remains, including tools, agricultural products and household appliances. They are open until April and admission is free.

McHargue Mill was built on the banks of the Little Laurel River, where it crosses the Boone. The functioning replica of the mill dates back to the late 19th century and has an authentic interior, including a millstone.

Surrounded by the largest millstone exhibition in the country, it is one of the park's most popular attractions and a popular destination for visitors from all over the world.

The Russell Dyche Amphitheatre can accommodate up to 1,500 people and hosts many social events, including concerts, family activities and other events for children and adults. Corn flour can be bought for $2.50 per bag or two pounds, corn flour for a quarter pound and corn flour for about $1.00 per pound.
