About Fair Hill State Natural Resources Mgmt. Area
The Fair Hill State Natural Resources Management Area (NRCA) borders Pennsylvania to the north and is known as one of the largest natural resource management areas in Maryland.
It belongs to John Dupont, an enthusiastic rider who has earned a reputation as a passionate rider who enjoys riding and fox hunting, as well as for his love of hiking and hunting. Fair Hill is a model for applying multiple management methods to maximize the use and protection of all Maryland natural resources.
Fair Hill was bought by the state in 1975 from Mr. duPont and repurchased by our state in 1975 as part of its Natural Resources Management Program.
Fair Hill attractions include a grass course that hosts steeplechase, forest and flat racing, a golf course and Fair Hill Golf Course, as well as a number of other attractions.
The fairground has a 450-seat event hall and the pavilion is a covered bridge where visitors can stop for lunch or dinner. The annual Cecil County Fair is held on the grounds of the festival and attracts more than 80,000 visitors each year, with more than 1,500 people attending annually. There are two gazebos in the Fair Hill State Natural Resources Management Area, each with a kitchen and toilet, as well as a range of other amenities.
On the road north of the rising sun and Route 272 to Interstate 95 and south of Route 1 and east of I-95 to Route 2.
