Sam A. Baker State Park has something for everyone, from pristine trails, scenic views and beautiful waterfalls to a variety of wildlife habitats. If you spend a day exploring the region, it is worth the trip, even if you are only in it for a few hours.

While the river floats well all year round, canoeists can swim in the spring and summer months, and a jetty provides access to it even in the winter months.

To explore the natural and cultural history of this park, visit the park's visitor center. It offers a variety of activities such as horseback riding, canoeing and hiking in areas discovered by early settlers as they made their way to their homes in the area.

Visitors can stay overnight in one of two large campsites equipped with picnic area, picnic tables, fireplace and water park. For horse lovers, there is a separate riding camp, as well as a trail head for canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding and hiking.

For those who prefer to eat indoors, the lodge overlooks Big Creek and offers excellent country cuisine. The shaded picnic area is equipped with a playground, covered shelters and picnic tables.

Sam a Baker State Park has 18 rustic stone and wood cottages, and the possibilities are endless.

Each room is equipped with bed linen, towels and kitchenware and has a private bathroom and shower. Most have amenities such as hot water, hot showers and showers, but you must behave yourself when choosing.

If you require a deposit for one night, please note that in case of cancellation, your deposit will be returned at a rate of less than 10% of the deposit. If you add $5 per person, you keep your deposits for the rest of your stay no matter what you do.

Pets are not allowed in cabins by law, but you can set up a dog house in your cabin for $5 per stay and a $10 cancellation fee will be charged. Swimming is possible on the beach, in the stream or in one of the waterfalls in Sam A Baker State Park.

Daily from 8 am to 10 pm and daily from 7 pm to 9 pm, except for special occasions such as weddings, funerals and other special occasions.

At Camp 1 on the St. Francis River there is a concrete boat, but the size of the river limits the use to small boats. Due to the changing currents in recent years, the starting area is usually about 1.5 to 2 miles from the park entrance. There are no entry fees and no engine restrictions and it is open at any time except in the case of severe flooding.

Concessionaire Michael Fleming operates a cabin, pantry, shop and canoe rental, and rafting, kayaking and bicycle rentals are also available.

The park shop offers tours for hire and swimming, but you can also camp, fish, kayak, canoe, swim and other activities.

The Big Creek is only floatable for kayaks in high water, but fishing is possible and the main fish are perch, perch, gills, sunfish and catfish. Rent a kayak or canoe on the lonely St. Francis River, a 1.5 km stretch of river from the parking lot to the shore. Daily use is from 8 am to 10 pm and daily use from 9 am to 5 pm from 6 pm.

There are two picnic huts that can be reserved for $35 per day, and there is a shelter in the main day main area. The accommodations are based on the First Coming, come - first served and occupancy is 75 persons per accommodation. There is no reserved parking space, only one parking space and two parking spaces with parking for the reserved.

There is a playground during the day - use area for children aged 3-5 years and a picnic area with picnic tables and picnic chairs.

There is a moderate to very challenging circuit, which can be ridden in the morning, afternoon and evening hours as well as in the winter months. The mud trails offer a variety of different terrain types, such as mud, mudslides, slabs, boulders, rocks, sand and mud.

The trails start at three stone huts built in the 1930s by the Civil Conservation Corps, which offer views of the surrounding countryside and Sam A Baker State Park. Most of the route is open for hiking, backpacking and horse riding, and it is suitable for hiking, horseback riding or hiking.

The trail follows Mudlick Hollow for about a quarter of a mile before beginning a gradual climb to the top of Green Mountain. The trail then leads into a narrow, rocky valley with clear pools and then up a steep, rocky slope to a view of the State Park.

Hikers can take the Hollow Pass Trail on their way back to visit the picturesque hollows, and horse-friendly horses can cross a rocky mud pit.

At the southern end of Green Mountain, the trail quickly descends into several sections, and along the way dense populations of red cedars form cool, shady corridors. The view from Green Mountain is best at night when the trees shed their leaves in the dense oak and hickory forest.

The trail leads through a valley to the top of the mud mountain, then crosses the steep eastern slope of this mountain back to the starting point.

The mud trail has three entry points and the path just before it is on the west side of road 143 near the restaurant.

The trail for day trippers is north of the home of the deputy superintendent and the horse - the riding students can use the trail from campsite 1. Other hiking trails are located near the equestrian camp, such as the trail to the east and the mud trail on the west side of road 143.

Water from the mud and Logan Brook can be used during the journey, but should always be treated before eating. Parking and water are available on the hiking trails, and in the winter months, when most water pipes are shut down, you can get water from the park offices. Water can also be obtained from the park offices in the spring and summer months, and in the winter months when most water pipes are shut down.

The park offers a wide range of hiking trails and trails for all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced. A barrier-free path is the path that leads from campsite 1 to the car park and from the parking office to campsite 2.

Cyclists, hikers, skateboarders and roller skaters are allowed to ride on the route, motorised vehicles, motorised wheelchairs and horses are not allowed on this route.

Access to the hiking trails is via the park, with hiking parking directly on the motorway. There is no further access to trails via the parking lot at the entrance to Sam A Baker State Park from the north to east side of the road.

From April to October, all campsites have water from the tap, but there are no modern toilets in the car park. Safe toilets are located on the hiking trails and in camp 1, and there is a modern toilet in the parking lot and in a shop near camp 2.

The terrain is relatively flat in some sections, and naturalists offer a variety of interpretative nature programs. Leisure programmers offer leisure programs throughout the park in the summer. These programs are designed to help visitors discover and enjoy natural and cultural resources in the parks. A popular activity, the Junior Naturalist Hour, helps children and their families win prizes for participating in a range of activities.

One or more of these programs are available most days during the summer months or call the park at 573 - 856 - 4424. Upon arrival, you will receive a list of the programs and activities offered during your visit. In late spring and autumn, weekend programs are offered, which include hikes through the park's wildlife and nature reserves and a variety of other activities.

Take US Highway to Exit 174, turn right onto Highway and turn left into the Sam A Baker State Park parking lot.

Camp 1 is located at the entrance to the park and Camp 2, the main campsite for Sam A Baker State Park, is just two kilometers away. The highway will take you about 13 miles to Salem and you will leave the highway at Des Arc and turn left into the parking lot of Sam a Baker State Park.
