About Montauk State Park

Montauk State Park is located at the headwaters of the famous Current River and offers the best trout in the Midwest. The park's source, tiny Pigeon Creek, supplies 43 million liters of water to the river every day.

The picturesque valley is home to the world's largest trout stream, Pigeon Creek, and the cool, clear stream is the ideal home for rainbow trout. For a day of fishing, you can visit the park's trout farm, which is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Fishermen come to Montauk State Park to celebrate the official trout season and start catching and releasing trout over the winter weekend.

Early settlers founded Montauk as a self-sufficient community in the early 19th century, and the 1896-built grill mill is open seasonally and on guided tours.

For visitors who want to spend a night or more in the park, Montauk offers a wide selection. Large campsites, equipped with modern toilets, hot showers and landfills, have simple electric pitches.

For guests who want to stay in the house, the park offers a variety of amenities, such as a pool, pool house and pool deck. The loop of the campsite is open all year round, and modern pantries are open both in the summer and winter months. A coin operated washing machine and washing machines are also open on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm.

Guests of the campsite can buy firewood from the camper forest and buy wood for their own campfires.

Wood is provided during the month in the pantry during business hours on weekends, but reservations are not required. Waldboden is closed from 24 November to February and open from 1 March to 30 June and from 1 July to 30 September.

Montauk State Park does not have special areas for organized groups, but groups can use and reserve these from their respective websites, subject to applicable regulations.

Each campsite has a car wash and all are under the Montauk State Park Department of Public Health and Environmental Protection. For more information about concession facilities, visit www.missouritrout.com or montauklodge.org. Let the concession staff make their own decisions for you and the rest of the park staff.

Of course, you can explore the beautiful hiking trails of Montauk on your own, but you should look for posters and park programs that are displayed throughout the park for nature - guided hikes from March to October. Whether you want to take a day trip to the beach, hike in the woods or stay overnight at the hotel, MontaKk State Park has a lot to offer.

If you're interested in a relatively challenging hike, the Pine Ridge Trail is perfect for you. Wear good hiking shoes and more sturdy clothing, and if you can, a good pair of hiking shoes. For more information on hiking in Montauk, please contact Naturalist Nature Park.

Start right at the old stone hut, park at one end and walk three to ten kilometres along the road before returning to your car. There are two signposts along this route, the other is located directly behind the Natural History Office. The trail starts in a small parking lot on the east side of Pine Ridge Road and goes one and a half kilometers down the road. This path does not follow a complete loop, but you can start the trail directly at the entrance of the Nature Park, start directly from an old stone hut and walk back along the three - and - half a kilometer long - road.

As one approaches the top of the hill, one notices the short left pine trees and a large number of pine trees. The nature reserve consists of a small park with a total area of about 1,000 hectares and was designated in 1979 as one of the first national parks in Canada and the second largest in Canada.

When one goes down the slope to the end of the path, one has a beautiful view of a lake with a large number of pines. The trees offer a great view over the lake and a good view into the forest below.

We reach the striking peak of this path at the end of the breeding season and look out for the white-tailed eagles floating in the winter waters.

This walk is ideal for visitors who want an easy walk and you do not need walking shoes, but something more like sandals is recommended, as the road is made of gravel. Although there are no officially designated trails yet, this is already one of the most popular places in the park. From the car park, it is a short walk to the hiking trail, which is just a few hundred meters away and is perfect for a walk with a small child in a stroller.

Just follow the dirt road that starts at the northern end of the public parking lot and leads towards the area where you can walk. The walk starts at the Natural History Office and the breeding farm, which is only a few hundred meters away.

The walk is about a quarter of a mile long and includes a loop, but if you want to extend the walk a little, there are other trails along the way. At any time you can see a variety of sights, and the walk can consist of two or three separate walks, each with a different view.

Montauk Lake is actually an artificial wetland created by the seizure of a breeding area, and the springs provide water for breeding ponds, breeding grounds and spring branches. Look for the active Beaver House, located in the middle of the large central wetlands, and look out over a large hill of sticks and mud. The highlight of this hike is the view of Lake Montauk with its many waterfalls and the beautiful view from the hiking trail.

Look for sea buckthorn (Karolinska) and sea pine (Carpinteria) and also note the large number of wild flowers such as blueberry, blackberry and bilberry. There are colorful berries produced by the dogwood, as well as a variety of other plant species.

From March to October, conservationists offer interpretative programs, including nature walks, hikes, bird watching and other outdoor activities. All programs are free and one hour or less unless otherwise stated, and do not require reservation. Program booklets are available at the park's visitor center, at the entrance to Montauk State Park and on the museum grounds.

Scientists travel to surrounding communities to offer community programs and help teachers teach science and science. Parents should accompany children to these programmes and children should be accompanied by a parent.

The mill in Montauk State Park is over 100 years old and much of it is still intact; the Old Mill was built in 1896 and had an elaborate milling machine. This historic place has been an important part of the MontaK community since the 1920s, and the mill itself is 100 years old.

Free guided tours of the mill are offered at weekends, but opening hours vary depending on demand for group tours. A new timetable with time and date for public tours has been published, so please contact the Nature Park naturalists to plan a special group tour.
