About Meramec State Park
Since the park opened in 1927, the steep slopes, caves and forests around the Meramec have been a delight for visitors. In 1933, craftsmen from the Civil Conservation Corps began integrating various visitor facilities into the rugged landscape of the parks.
The popular park, covering 696 hectares, offers a variety of attractions, from hiking trails to hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as a wide range of outdoor activities. Guided tours of the park's caves, caves and other natural attractions are offered seasonally for a small fee.
Water lovers can swim in the Meramec, kayak, paddle board, canoe and pedal board on the lake, river or in the pool in the park swimming pool.
Other facilities include a parking shop, which offers pitches for tents, including three group places, and a picnic area. A rustic lodge in the park offers a variety of services and facilities, some of which are only seasonal, such as picnic tables, campfires, fireplaces, showers and showers.
The Meramec State Park Visitor Center offers a variety of educational exhibits, including a large aquarium that shows the amazing diversity of aquatic life in the river. Here guests can explore the natural features of the park, such as waterfalls, rivers and riverbanks, before venturing into the parks. The park does not have a designated bathing area, but guests should choose their own bathing spot at their discretion. Access to the river is possible from the park and people are allowed to swim in and out of the park at their own risk.
A concrete motor boat and canoe dock are located in the parking lot and are available during the parking time. A gravel boat start is located near the campsite, but is only available to guests at the campsites. There is no entry fee and no parking fees for motor boats, canoes, kayaks or other recreational vehicles.
Canoeing and rafting is a very popular activity in the park and canoes or rafts can be rented in the park. The rental price includes shuttle transport, paddles and life jackets as well as access to the parking lot and the canoe dock.
More than half of all Missouri fish are found in the Meramec River, and three black bass can be caught, as can catfish and panfish. The weekday swimmers usually spend much more time in solitude than on weekends, but it is one of Missouri's most popular rivers for recreational fishing and boating.
There are three picnic accommodations that can be reserved for up to 35 days for $35 a day, and three accommodations that are located in the picnic area. The average occupancy is 75 persons per accommodation, but the accommodations are available on the basis of "first come, come - first served." If not reserved, there is an additional $5 per person for a one-day stay at one of the campsites or $10 for two days.
There are two playgrounds in the park; one is located on the picnic area in Shelter 3, while the other is outside the campground in Shower House 1.
The park offers various nature programs such as nature walks, nature walks and nature campsites. Every Thursday a nature programme for nature walks has been created with a variety of activities and activities for children and adults.
A natural history tour, offered seasonally, offers visitors an interesting adventure. Fisher's Cave is truly one of the most beautiful caves in the park and a great place for hiking, camping and fishing.
With huge rooms filled with limestone deposits, Fisher's Cave offers one outstanding cave scene after another. In each room or passage are well-preserved bear claw impressions, calcite deposits from intricate hellectite to massive columns 30 feet high, and a variety of fossils.
