About Cheesequake State Park

The uniqueness of Cheesequake State Park lies in its geographical location, in the middle of the urban north and the suburban south. The main features of the park are its proximity to the city of San Diego and its location in an area with a high population density.

All toilets and showers are accessible on foot and all vehicles entering the campsite are subject to a height limit of 15 meters.

There are six individual pitches for up to 25 campers and all facilities in this area include toilets, flushing and drinking water. Gordon Field group area is best behaved in group campsites with a height limit of 15 meters above the ground.

Swimming is only allowed in the park if a lifeguard is in use, and only for safety reasons and to protect children and adults.

The six-acre Hooks Creek Lake is freshwater, and trout, perch, catfish and sunfish offer anglers a variety of freshwater fish species. Fishing is regulated by NJ rules for fish and wildlife, but not for commercial fishing.

The difficulty of the trails ranges from easy to medium with some gradients, and the length of the individual trails is 1.5 to 3.5 km.

The reserve features a variety of plant species and community types characteristic of northern and southern New Jersey. See the salt marshes, salt ponds and salt pans along the coast, as well as the Atlantic and Delaware rivers.

Visitors can learn about the three habitats of Cheesequake State Park and view the wildlife exhibition in the center. The Interpretive Center is located at the entrance of the park on the south side of the parking lot, directly on the main entrance road. This centre also provides information on Indian and early settlement areas, as well as wildlife and wildlife habitats.
