The rugged hills of Belmont County form the backdrop to picturesque Barkcamp State Park. In addition to the excellent leisure facilities, visitors will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hiking and camping.

Barkcamp State Park is located in the heart of the coal mining region of Ohio, and the Barkcamp region's sandstone hills are part of the Appalachian Mountains that surround southeastern Ohio.

The coal layer is located in sandstone rocks, which are formed by decaying marsh vegetation, as well as coal ash and coal dust.

Today, Southeast Ohio is one of the most forested areas in Ohio, and the hills and valleys in that area are covered with second-largest forests and forest growth. Few areas still offer a glimpse of the splendor of pristine forests, but Barkcamp State Park does.

The forests of Barkcamp offer a variety of plants and animals, and attentive visitors can enjoy wild flowers, including wild flowers. In spring the woods bloom with flowering dogwood with red buds and flowers. White and tail deer, elk, elk, coyote, wolf and other wildlife live in and around the park in different habitats.

The area was first inhabited by hill farmers from the Wyandots, Delaware and Shawnee, and before the Treaty of Greenville in 1795, the Ohio River itself was the recognized boundary between the Delaware River and the state of Ohio. Belmont County is one of the oldest counties in the United States and home to Barkcamp State Park.

Indian country, conflicts arose as a country - hungry settlers began to occupy themselves with it, especially at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, when settlers arrived.

The celebrated Indian fighter Lewis Wetzel was often on the road in this region and fomented many conflicts when Indians were the object of his death and hatred.

A large boulder in the park near an ancient barn bears the inscription carved by Wetzel: "The first church in this area was founded by the Quaker Society. A Quaker living in St. Clairsville, he became known as the father of abolition and founded a Union Humane Society here in 1815.

Lundy helped found the Philanthropist Newspaper in nearby Mt Pleasant, and at one point there was a 120-mile subway in Belmont County.

Over the years, coal has been discovered and underpinned the area's economy, and Belmont County is now the world's leading coal producer with an estimated $5.668 million in coal in the United States alone.

Land acquisition in the park began in 1955, and in 1963 a dam was completed to create 117 acres of Belmont Lake. The park takes its unusual name from the place where the bark was removed from the logs in preparation for delivery to the mill.

Barkcamp offers four electrified campsites, two campsites and a number of other amenities.

Each campsite has a picnic area, campfire, picnic tables, showers, toilets, fireplace, water, campfire and picnic areas.

There is also a 25-seat riding camp and 15-seat group camping available for organized groups by appointment, as well as a 15-foot picnic area (by 15-foot).

The 700 foot long beach offers a fun beach for sun worshippers and five Rent-A-Camp units, consisting of picnic area, picnic table, beach chair, water park and dog park, can be rented by reservation in the summer months. Pet camping is also allowed on designated pitches, on the beach and on the park's picnic areas.

Electric boats are allowed on Belmont Lake and seasonal boat ties can be purchased in the park parking lot. In the summer months, there is a water park and a dog park, as well as beach treks.

A launch pad provides access to the lake, and seven picnic areas are set up throughout the park, as well as a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic chairs, tables and chairs.

In each area there are tables, barbecues, water and latrines, and picnic huts are available, whichever comes first, the better.

One kilometer of trails invite visitors to enjoy the solitude of the forest, as well as a number of trails, such as the Kootenay Trail, a 1.5 kilometer loop around the park.

A 6 km mountain bike trail leads from the rugged, rock-lined shores of Barkcamp Lake to the northern end of the park, offering scenic views of Lake Superior and the Great Bear Rainforest. A special asphalt road leads to the forest and gives access to an old barn. Horse riding trails at Bark Camp offer a pleasant day trip, with a variety of trails, including a 1.5 km loop around the State Park. This natural gem houses some of B.C. "s oldest horse stables and an old, growing forest, and is offered as part of a trail system for hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders.

Signs explaining the cultural and natural history of the park and information about the history and culture of the Bark Camp are placed along the route.

The old barn was built in the 19th century by a well-known fruit farmer and is kept in a storeroom as a piece of American history. One of the apples marketed is the Bentley Sweet, which is available for sale at Bark Camp State Park.

In summer, the barn hosts various natural history activities for children and adults, and there is also a picnic area. Experience the rich history of the Barkcamp area in Bark Camp State Park, the oldest national park in the United States. The restored log houses, pioneer buildings and old barns transport visitors to even earlier times.

The Friends Meeting House in Mount Pleasant, run by the Ohio Historical Society, is a restored meeting place for early Quakers. This spectacular Romanesque mansion was built in 1888 and has 26 rooms and houses a museum. The museum is open from May to October and is housed in the former meeting house of the Quaker Society of Mt. Pleasant and the Friends of the Bark Camp.

Built in 1914, it is one of the largest in the United States and houses the Ohio Historical Society's Museum of American Quakers.

Dysart Woods, located south of the park on State Route 147, is home to an Ohio University agricultural laboratory. It preserves the remains of a former Ohio State University farm and a large number of old trees and shrubs.
