About Cape Lookout State Park
Cape Lookout is a popular camping and excursion site at the sandy end of Netarts Bay in the sea. Beach and ridge are popular here, and the park says it is one of the best places to find glass swimmers.
At the end of the road there is a bank, and the Cape Lookout Trail follows the cape for more than 2 miles. The trail leads through a lush, old, growing forest overlooking Netarts Bay, the sea and Cape Hatteras.
You can see a whale or two and other wildlife, and the Jackson Creek Trail is the perfect short jaunt. It offers views of Cape Lookout and Cape Hatteras Bay, as well as the sea, the sea and a few birds.
The Jackson Creek Trail starts at a sign describing a local salmon recovery project, and signs offer numbered markings. Cape Lookout State Park can be reached by traveling over the scenic Wilson River Pass, about an hour and a half west of Portland. Along the way, you can enjoy waterfalls, scenic views and excellent fishing.
