About Locust Lake State Park
Locust Lake State Park is known as a popular campsite for its large grasshopper lake and beautiful forest. This 52-hectare Grasshoppers Lake is located between two campsites and is surrounded by beautiful forests that are home to a wide variety of wildlife.
Hiking and fishing are popular activities in this 1,089-acre park, and a bike path and a number of hiking trails wind through the woods, alternately steep and challenging for hearty hikers.
The 282 campsites are divided into tent and trailer pitches around the lake, and the trailer pitches are located on the south side of the lakes. Tents are allowed on both the north and south sides of the lake, trailers on both sides, but no tents.
The campsites are located in wooded areas and have a cleared area for camping equipment, campers, tents and other storage equipment. The site is open to the public on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm and on weekdays from 7 am to 10 pm.
The campsite's amenities include modern toilets, washhouses and showers, and there are also a number of pavements - on construction sites. The waste and recycling areas are located on the north and south sides of the lake, near the trailer side of the lake there is a landfill.
All non-motorized boats have one of the following boat registrations in the state: All motor boats must have a boat registration in that state. All boats can use electric motors, but only on the lake, not on any other lake in the park.
Rowing boats, canoes and pedal boats are available in the park's boat rental concessions and in the lake parking lot.
The trail leads to a forest stream that flows through a full-grown hemlock population, and then to the shore of the lake. The whole circuit, a self-guided path, is characterized by trees, species and other vegetation and is informed by signs of every kind.
The trail also passes some unique geological rock formations and we are surrounded by a ridge located in a mature deciduous forest. The trail leads through a unique rock formation on the northern side of the lake and also through an old - overgrown forest and a small stream.
Tuscarora and Locust Lake Parks offer a variety of environmental education and interpretation programs. In addition to guided hikes, participants can learn about the park's natural history, wildlife and natural resources in a series of workshops.
Curricula and environmental education programs are available to schools and youth groups. Environmental educators are responsible for developing curricula and learning locally and offer a wide range of educational programs for children, adults and families in need.
The programs are offered from March to November, groups and programs must be arranged in advance and can be arranged by phone or at the park office.
