About Tyler State Park

Tyler State Park consists of 1,711 acres in Bucks County, and the park's roads, paths and facilities are carefully embedded in the original landscape of farms and forests.

Before it became a state park, the land belonged to George F. Tyler, who bought it between 1919 and 1928. His first purchase was Solly's Farm, which is currently leased to Hostelling International at the northern end of the park. Neshaminy Creek itself winds through the parks and divides into several interesting sections.

The Tylers developed one of the best dairy herds in Ayrshire and the property is now part of Bucks County Community College. Solly's House was once Tyler's country house and is still used as a private residence.

The productive farmland was mainly used to feed the herd, but also poultry, sheep and pigs were bred. They also had a horse, the noble and bred fowl and sheep, pigs, and had some of the best horses in the country, such as the noble - ridden horses, horses and ponies of their time.

This building dates back to the early 17th century and is the oldest original stone house in the park.

You can search for the 1775 house on the west side of the street, about half a mile west of this building, on the corner of Main Street.

Ten of the original farmhouses are currently rented out as private apartments, with a further ten for private use.

With funding from Project 500 Pennsylvania, Parkland developed and acquired the former Tyler Farmhouse and adjacent land with Project 70 funding, and the park was officially opened on May 25, 1974. The law provides for the creation of many outdoor public recreational spaces, including Tyler State Park in Pennsylvania.

Neshaminy Creek offers a quiet and easy boat ride upstream, and fishermen can fish in canoes from the shore of Neshaminy Creek. Canoe rental is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm and from 10 am to 5 pm and 7 pm to 10 pm. Warm - Water fish can be sold in the stream and on the shore at the park's boat ramp.

Neshaminy Creek is also a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, fishing and other recreational activities, as well as for hiking and biking.

Neshaminy Creek sometimes freezes over and ice fishing is allowed along the creek and in the skating area, but due to cold weather conditions and strong winds this is not true in the winter months.

For safety, make sure that the ice is at least four centimetres thick and that you have safety equipment with you. Ice thickness is not monitored, but ice thickness can lead to serious injury or death if it is too thick or too thin.

Before you cycle, remember that almost all the paths on the west side of the stream are hilly. Therefore, drive slowly and exercise caution in the hills and bends.

The use of bicycles is only allowed on designated asphalt surfaces, and paved roads are passable on several lanes (see map). Most of the cycle paths are either asphalted or designed for easy two-way routes. Some cycle paths are named after crossroads, such as the one on the east side of the stream at the intersection of the main road and the stream.

Be polite and safe for cyclists and stay alert when hiking with horseback riders and hikers. Picnic tables are available along the cycle paths, but riders can also enjoy a picnic table by the side of the road or in the shade of a tree at the end of the cycle path.

Horseback riding is not allowed on picnic areas, so please stay on the paths marked with tab icons and stay within the boundaries of the park and the existing path.

Parking for horses and trailers is available at trail number, but there is also limited additional parking space in the covered parking lot at the entrance to the trail.

This picnic area is connected to a gravel road east of Neshaminy Creek, and hikers are allowed to walk this path. Those who want a longer hike can cross Nehamini Creek at the end of the trail at a picnic area.

There you will find a picnic area, picnic tables and many opportunities for cycling and horseback riding. This hiking trail offers excellent views of the park and surrounding countryside, as well as scenic views of Neshaminy Creek and the river.

The park offers environmental education and interpretative programs that explore a variety of ecological, historical and ecological topics. Access to remote areas along the trail provides access to a wide range of wildlife including birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds. The paths of the park offer views of Neshaminy Creek and the river.

Schools, groups, programming and teacher workshops can be organized, but advanced planning and group programming is required. Special programs can also be organized by scouts, churches, civic groups and private groups. Programs are available from September to May, please contact the park office for more information.

Access to the park is via Exits 330 and 331 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike; I-95 then travels west on a four-lane bypass, and US-1 follows US-95 northbound. The entrance to the park is located at the northern end of the Newtown exit on Interstate 95, west of Route 1.
