Parker Dam is a great place to explore the surrounding state forest and its natural beauty. The 968 hectare park in Parkdamm offers old-fashioned charm and character, with a mix of natural elements, picturesque views and scenic paths. This secluded park is almost entirely wooded and offers picturesque views of the dam and river, as well as a variety of wildlife. Parker Dam State Park, a secluded park on the west side of Lake Parker, is one of only two state parks in the United States.

The eastern shore of the 20 hectare lake is covered with trees, which makes the autumn leaves look beautiful, and is home to a variety of wildlife such as deer, elk, elk, coyotes, wolves and bears.

For wilderness explorers, Parker Dam offers a wide range of activities, from hiking and camping to mountain biking and hiking. You can hike through tornadoes - ravaged forests, enjoy hunting elusive Pennsylvania elk, go mountain biking to your heart's content or backpack through the state forest, camp, fish and do other outdoor activities. The picturesque view of Lake Parker and its natural beauty make the Park Dam the ideal place for a relaxing holiday.

A tornado pulled a swath of destruction over the park's levees in 1985, but the forest west of Mud Run Road remained in its natural state. A path from the campsite to the swimming area leads through the earth chest behind the dam.

Fallen trees have been recovered and removed on the east side of Mud Run Road, but note the large bare trunks that still bear witness to the power of the storm. The Trail of New Giants passes through this area, which is known for its large trees and large, bare trees.

Schwarzkittel (Pinot Gris) look over the coniferous forest and shy stove birds (redstart) make their way through the trees. There is a small section of the Moshannon State Forest surrounding it and we have seen how the forest has grown differently in these two areas.

Look out for turkeys in the forest, as well as birds of prey such as redstart, squirrels, owls, deer and other birds.

The evening is ideal for wildlife watching as the sun sets and the moon sets in the sky with a light breeze and light snowfall on the horizon.

White - Tailed pigs eat and a drive along Tyler Road could result in coyotes and foxes. Watch the elusive free-living moose and porcupines scanning the area for tornadoes in the evening.

Do not feed or observe wildlife from a safe distance and do not feed them even if they are near or within sight of your vehicle.

Elks (Wapiti) are white - shaped tail-deer with brown, white and black antlers and a white head and tail. Moose can weigh between 6 and 8 pounds and weigh between 400 and 1,000 pounds, but an adult male carries a very large antler that can be as long as 1.5 to 2 feet and as wide as 5 feet.

September and October are the best times to see elk in the park, as temperatures are cooler in October and November and less snow falls.

Never approach elk, especially during the rutting season in autumn; big bulls whistle to attract them, but do not whistle too loudly or too deeply.

The second population of elk is located east of the State Forest in Sproul and the second population is in the Park Dam Park. The heart of the moose range is located in the eastern part of the park dam, near the eastern border of the park. A viewing platform for elk is located in the countryside, or you can see wild moss in the woods and fields. Parker Dam is also located in a mock neighborhood, as is the parking lot of the popular Parker River Trail hiking trail in the area.

The cottages are heated by a wall-mounted gas heating, and tenants must provide their own heating and air conditioning, as well as a stove and hotplate. The cabins can accommodate 4, 6 or 8 people and must be kept, but the tenants do not cause any problems.

In summer the cabins are rented only weekly, and in low season the minimum rental is two days.

The campsites are located on the eastern shore of the lake, a total of four pitches are available, which can be used in the winter season.

All campsites have modern toilets, showers, sanitary facilities and electricity connections in 80 of the 110 campsites. A total of three completely wooded sites, each with its own campsite, offer a variety of camping options, such as cabins, campsites, picnic areas or even a picnic area with picnic tables.

Campers must leave the park within 48 hours of a stay, and the maximum length of stay is no more than 1,000 feet from the entrance to the State Park and no less than 2,500 feet from all other campers.

The capacity of the three organized campsites is 80 people; one area can accommodate up to 40 people and two areas can accommodate 20 people each.

For a fee, organized groups can use the campsite showers, and an organized reservable campsite for groups is included. The open lawn is located on the north side of the park, near the running track and the entrance to the lake.

The swimming area at Parker Lake has a beautiful sandy beach and is open daily from 8 am until sunset unless otherwise stated. The maximum water depth is five meters, except for distant buoy lines marked with a buoy line. Swimming hours are daily from 8 am to sunset and from 12 pm to 4 pm or from 1 pm to 5 pm.

All electric and non-electric boats are permitted on the 20-acre Park Lake, but all motor boats must be registered in the state. Non-motorized boats have one of the following boat registrations in - condition: Accommodation is available, but only for rowing boats, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats and other recreational vehicles.

The pavilions erected by the CCC were selected from a list of over 100 pavilions available in the park, and five have lighting and electrical outlets. They are scattered over the predominantly forested area, with a few small buildings on the north side of the lake.

The picnic pavilions can accommodate about 75 people and can be reserved for up to 11 months against advance payment. On the north side of the lake there is an unrestricted picnic pavilion where guests come first and then are served.

This park is the western signpost of the Quehanna Trail System and many trails start and end in Dam Park and lead into the surrounding Moshannon State Forest. Many of these trails lead or start at the Park Damm Park, but the trails continue to get a full description of the trail.

The system provides a series of loops and connecting routes through the Moshannon State Forest and the western part of the Quehanna Trail System in Pennsylvania.

Hiking maps are available at the park office, and Park Dam Park offers a variety of hiking trails and a number of backpacker trails. Walking in this park is a great option for those interested in a long or short walk.

Curricula and environmental education programs are available to schools and youth groups. Group programmes can be arranged by phone or at the park office, but must be arranged in advance.

Participants will receive a guided hike and a map of the Park Dam Park network, as well as a guide for each group.

The Park Dam Park is accessible to all ages and abilities, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or disability.

The Performing Center at the dam informs visitors about life - the time of a corpse, which is the CCC. The Visitor Centre, which is attached to the Park Office, offers a variety of activities for children and adults, such as a cider factory in October and a children's playground in November. During office hours, the Park Dam State Park Museum, a museum of art and history, is open in the parks.

An exhibition of tornadoes is located in a classroom and is open on request on Sundays and afternoons during the summer season. Located in northern Clearfield County, the park is one of the largest state parks in Pennsylvania.

Drive the 2.5 miles to the park and turn right onto Mud Run Road, then left onto Route 153 North.

Take Exit 111 to Route 153 North, which will take you two miles, and then exit at the parking lot at Parker Dam State Park.
