About Baker Creek State Park

Baker Creek is primarily designed for easy public access to Lake Thurmond and offers water recreation with scenic campsites around the lake. A gazebo near the lakes can accommodate large groups, and Baker Creek State Park has gazebos on both sides of the river.

Located in the South Carolina Heritage Corridor, Baker Creek offers a relaxed off-road location to experience quality recreation and unspoiled natural resources. A 10 km mountain bike trail also offers easy access to many wild turkeys, including wild boar, deer, elk, coyotes and many other species. Baker Creek State Park features a gazebo with picnic area, picnic tables, playground and picnic table, and a water park.

A covered open-air facility overlooking Thurmond Lake and the creek is rented for $90 to $112 a day.

Camping # 1 is ideal for campers as it is located opposite a toilet and a hot shower. Two 50-place campsites are located on the shores of Thurmond Lake and the facility is within daytime use. The complex consists of a two-bedroom, a bathroom, a family house or a three-bed room, a four-room apartment.

Camping 2 consists of 15 - 17 pitches per night, which can be rented for $15 to $17 per pitch per night in the summer months or for $20 per day in the winter months. The pitches have a toilet, a hot shower and a two, three and four-room apartment.

Pitch 2 can accommodate up to four people per night, with a maximum of four per pitch per day in the summer months and six per pitch in the winter months.

This primitive group campsite is ideal for organised groups of up to 100 people and discounted rates are available in times of low demand. There is no camping site for mobile homes, but the site includes a picnic table and is only 100 metres from a toilet.

The minimum price is $10 ($12.50), which can accommodate up to ten campers, but prices can be increased during periods of high demand, such as the summer months or winter.

Perch fishing is possible at Thurmond Lake, but a valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

Group camping can be booked in the park car park or at a nearby campsite. Take US 378 W for 3 miles, turn right on the parking sign, go 1.5 miles and then left at the entrance to the park, then left on US 37 W. Turn right on parking signs and go 2 miles.
