About Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park

The park was attacked and destroyed by a group of soldiers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New York State Police on November 4, 1864.

The land was partly purchased by Benton County and the operation was concentrated in the river park near the town of Eva. Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park is proud to announce the addition of 7 new cottages to the park. Forrest was a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New York State Police, and his operations focused on river parks and towns near Eva, as well as the Mississippi.

One of the cabins will be accessible to disabled people and will have access to the toilets, picnic areas and other amenities of the park. All six cottages, with the exception of one cabin in the river park and one in Eva, will have their own entrance and parking.

Each cottage has its own kitchen, bathroom, shower, laundry room and other amenities, and fresh linen is provided, although there is no maid service. There will be access to the park's toilets, picnic areas, water fountain and picnic area, and a picnic table.

The park has three campsites, two of which are primitive and two are managed. The Happy Hollow campsite has a picnic table and a picnic area with table, barbecue, water and electricity, as well as access to the park's toilets, toilets and water fountains.

Boating, skiing and fishing are very popular activities on the 200,000-acre Kentucky Lake. Nearby there is a commercial marina and public boat moorings, but no fees are charged. Three boat moorings within the park are located at the entrance to the lake, one in the parking lot and two in a boat parking lot.

There is a free two-boat connection to the park, but a valid Tennessee fishing license is required.

Not uncommon at Kentucky Lake are largemouth, striped and small mouthfish and white perch.

The park has two picnic areas, and both areas have tables, taps and barbecues. Nearby there are toilets and a playground, as well as a picnic area with picnic tables and picnic chairs.

Three picnic pavilions are available for groups and can be reserved at the park office, with each pavilion reserved a year in advance.

The park office has several interesting nature and cultural exhibitions, and the park has full-time rangers who regularly conduct programs during the summer months. These programs include guided hikes, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, bird watching and other outdoor activities.

The year-round school visit programme includes a variety of activities for children from kindergarten to school age. Seasonal programs include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bird watching and other outdoor activities, as well as educational activities.
