About Mousetail Landing State Park
The 247-acre area is located on the west side of State Park, near the intersection of Interstate 95 and State Route 5. According to tradition, it was named after a time during the Civil War when a tannery in the area caught fire. An exodus of mice fleeing the burning tanneries shook an area of the park to become known as Mousetail Landing.
The scenic Buffalo River flows nearby, offering opportunities for family canoeing, and a landfill is also located in the area. The campsites in the park have access to a variety of amenities such as picnic areas, picnic tables, waterfalls, picnic areas and picnic benches.
The campsites are equipped with picnic tables and barbecues, and Spring Creek is a popular spot for picnicking, fishing and other outdoor activities. Camping in the hinterland is allowed, but requires a permit and is limited to a maximum of one camp per person per day per campsite.
The beach is on Spring Creek, a tributary of the Tennessee River, and lifeguards are on duty.
Swimming is at your own risk and is supervised by a lifeguard at all times except in the summer months.
The small stream near the park entrance is a pleasant bath for small children and adults. Boats moored in the parks can be taken from the parking lot to a boat ramp on the south side of the creek, directly on the beach.
The jetty is located on the south side of the creek, south of a small creek bed, near the park entrance. This area has a large parking area with picnic area, picnic tables and a boat ramp.
Many Spring Creek campsites are located on the edge of the water, and fishing enthusiasts can enjoy the striped fish. You can also fish from the park entrance, where you can get a few minutes of water before you reach the creek bed, or from outside the park entrance.
There are about 25 picnic tables scattered around the park, 16 of which have barbecues nearby and you can pull the tables together in large groups.
Picnic areas are served first, served first, with the exception of the gazebos, and the picnic area is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There is a large gazebo that can accommodate up to 100 people, and there is also an area of 144 square meters for rent. There is no charge for renting the pavilions, but reservations can be made one year in advance. There is no charge for parking on the picnic area or the large picnic areas, except in a small parking lot.
The inland accommodation has bunk beds and each accommodation has a capacity of up to 8 people. The park has a day use, but there is no charge for overnight stays or for using the picnic areas or the large picnic area.
Shelter # 1 is located in a picturesque hardwood forest and Shelter # 2 is located on a large limestone rock overlooking a small lake overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the west.
