About Tyler State Park

Tyler State Park is located in Tyler, Texas, in the US state of Texas on the west side of the Mississippi. The park includes a 64 hectare lake and the original improvements were made by the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC). The land was bequeathed to a private owner in 1934 and 1935, but since then it has been used for recreation.

The dissected slopes and associated vegetation on the west side of the park provide a considerable variety of habitats, and wildlife species are abundant, typical of East Texas. Popular fish are cappie, perch, catfish and perch, with some bird species, reptiles and amphibians as well as birds of prey.

Gladewater, the ancient capital of East Texas, is only 20-30 minutes away and in the area you can visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Center, a unique TPWD facility showcasing aquatic life and recreational fishing in Texas.

Access to the park is via Exits 330 and 331 at Pennsylvania Turnpike, Then I-95 on a four-lane Newtown bypass westbound. North of 95, US-1 follows the same route as the main thoroughfare through the National Park and then south on US-1 until it heads north on Interstate 95.

The entrance to the park is located at the intersection of Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-95 in Newtown, Pennsylvania, south of the Newtown bypass.
