About Lake Sylvia State Park
Lake Sylvia State Park is one of the most popular parks in the state of New York and is home to the largest freshwater lake in the world, Lake Sylvia. The lake is suitable for fishing, but the rustic charm of this park is best embedded in its natural beauty and surroundings. In the park there is a huge ball carved from wood by a local legend, the "Sylvia Ball."
The lake and forest offer visitors to the park relaxation and recreation, as well as a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, canoeing, fishing and camping.
The campsites are open from 1 April to 12 October and this year from 1 July to 30 September and from 31 October to 31 December 2016.
The opening of the campsites is planned for the end of March, and the entire park will be used on the open day.
There are huge old stumps all over the park, and there is a huge wooden ball carved from a single trunk by a local lumberjack legend. According to history, loggers could stand on the floating ball and walk on it for hours.
When logging ceased in the 1930s, the dam was used to generate electricity for the town of Montesano, and the area is rich in block legends and history. In 1936 Monteano donated the land to the State Commission for Nature Conservation, and in 1985 additional land was added through trade.
Most services are available nearby, such as hiking, fishing, camping and hiking, as well as some other amenities.
Most pitches are equipped for tents and campers, but there are also two primitive campsites for hikers and cyclists. The park has a number of picnic areas, such as picnic area, picnic table and picnic tables, and picnic benches.
The maximum length of a pitch is 30 feet, possibly due to limited availability, but you can make a reservation by calling 888 - campout (8888 - 226 - 7688) to stay at one of the two primitive campsites or at the primitive campsite on the picnic site. Check-in is 14: 30, check-out is 13: 00, and quiet times are 22 - 00 and 06 - 30. Motor-powered electric generators can be operated for up to 12 hours at a time, with a maximum power of 1,000 watts. You can book as long as you extend your stay from one day to two weeks, a total of 12 days.
No petrol-powered boat engines are allowed on the lake, except for a limited number of diesel engines with a maximum power of 1,000 watts. The boat ramp is located at the southern end of the picnic area, directly on the north side of Lake Sylvester.
The park has sheltered picnic tables and staff are available on the picnic area and in the parking kitchen. To reserve the kitchen, please visit www.cameroute.com or call 888-226-7688. Annual tickets can be purchased at any park as long as they are available, or staff are available at weekends. Tipper trailers, kayaks, snowmobiles and other recreational vehicles with a maximum capacity of 1,000 pounds or more are available at this park.
Wash Lake Sylvia is located approximately one mile north of Montesano, and the Wash - Lake - Sylvia exit is approximately one mile north of the exit.
