About Aztalan State Park

The park is one of the most important archaeological sites in Aztalan State Park in Azerbaijan and shows evidence of a period of prosperity in the years 1000 - 1300 AD. The inhabitants of Az talan built a pyramid-shaped hill in front of their village, and archaeologists suspect that the inhabitants had access to a large number of different water sources as well as a variety of medicinal plants.

The park is largely open, and part of the warehouse and two mounds of earth have been converted into the park. It has a vaulted toilet and a large area for hunting and breeding in the floodplains along the river Crayfish.

The park is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm and has no jetty, but along the Crafish River you can go canoeing, kayaking and paddle.

North of the park is the Aztalan Museum, operated by the National Park Service and the Arizona Department of Natural Resources (AZDNR). The museum is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and includes a collection of artefacts from Arizona's early history and Arizona State Park that show the pioneering life. No stickers, registrations or vehicle construction are required, but the museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

The festival is organized by the Aztalan Historical Association to celebrate the pioneering period of Az talan, and there is no fee. The park is located in County B on the west side of Arizona State Park, north of Phoenix. Take State Highway 26, travel west on Interstate Highway 94, travel south on State Route 26 until you reach County B, then travel east on County # B to the park entrance.
