We are only allowed to make a fire if we have a barbecue or a fireplace, and we have a fireplace and a few other small fireplaces available.

The concession stands in the Lodge Building sell seasonal picnic supplies, sandwiches and snacks. Firewood is sold on the sales area at the entrance to the forest, and the concession stand in front of the box building sells firewood, wood chips and other items.

Attraction is Lake Michigan, where you can enjoy more than five undeveloped stretches of coastline. The family campsites consist of 127 pitches, 70 of which are equipped with electricity (see map (PDF, 271 KB), and each has a fire ring and picnic table. None of the restaurants have a view of the lake due to the high sand dunes, but all have fire rings, picnic tables and access to a picnic area.

Also on weekdays in July and August there is a lot of traffic, so a reservation is recommended.

Point Beach Campsites fill up quickly in the summer months due to the high number of visitors, especially at weekends. On the opposite property (# 31) is a building with toilet and shower, which is opposite the property [31].

Pitches 1-20 are available on the basis of the First - come, first - service, therefore reservations must be made before the first day of the service [31]. Pitch 21 - 127 is available for reservations, but only on weekdays from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.

Point Beach Campsites are open all year round, but reservations must be made online or by calling the toll-free number (888 - 947 - 2757) at the DNR exit. Property 74 - 81 has no electricity and is the first to be reached in winter. The entrance to the campground is plowed as a shelter, and the Point Beach State Forest is open to all visitors.

Cross the country and enjoy the solitude during the season or enjoy the solitude of the off season with a day trip to Point Beach State Forest or a weekend in the State Forest.

Water is available in the forest office and the shop building, but the shower building will remain closed until mid-October. The overnight fees depend on when you camp, whether you are a Wisconsin resident, whether you have electricity and whether there is water and / or electricity in the camping.

Reservation fees are also charged by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the State of Wisconsin Forestry Commission. There is no camping fee in the Point Beach State Forest, but the full list of reservation fees and other information can be found on the Forest Commission website. The hotel is located at the main entrance of the campsite and the opening hours are from 11 am to 7 pm and open to all visitors.

Put all food, water and other non-perishable foods such as fruit and vegetables in the appropriate containers.

Pets are not allowed at Point Beach and all pet owners are asked to strictly adhere to all rules and guidelines. Upon arrival of pets, a copy of the rules and regulations of the publication is requested. Non-religious services are held in tent camps on Sunday mornings and pets are not allowed in tents or campgrounds during these services.

Pets must be kept on a leash of at least 1.20 metres and checked by the owner. The only exception is people walking their dogs on the beach or in the parking lot of Point Beach State Park. Pets are not allowed during the day or at any time in tents, campsites or other areas of the park.

We ask you to follow our Pet Policy to improve your attendance search and ensure the safety of both humans and pets. Point Beach is an area along the shores of Lake Michigan where pets are allowed, but not in tents, campgrounds or other areas of the park.

Point Beach has two buildings that can accommodate up to 30 people, as well as an outdoor group camp designed to camp in the parking lot on the west side of Lake Michigan State Park.

Group accommodation includes a campfire, picnic tables, picnic table and a large picnic area.

Large campers and semi-trailers do not fit in the group campsite and should be used for family campsites. One of the campgrounds, Point Beach Campground, at the northern end of Park Road, can accommodate 60 people and the other on Lake Superior Drive, near the park entrance.

Lake Michigan can create dangerous rip currents with the DNR output, and external currents are strongest when there are large waves. In case of a big wave, extreme caution is required, especially in the summer months due to the large amount of water in the lake and the strong current.

Please do not go more than one waist high and dive at least 3.5 metres above the surface of the lake or 0.8 metres deep into the water.

Strong westerly winds can blow from the coast and users of small boats and floating equipment should be aware of the wind conditions. If you are caught in a raging current, swim at a safe distance and swim as far as you can to get out of the current. Currents are rarely more than 30 feet wide, but if you catch a raging current, you should swim away as quickly as possible and not swim deeper than 2 feet.

Parents always watch their children in the water and no personal floating equipment is required except for small boats and small children under 5 years of age.

The Point Beach hiking trails offer easy access to the beach and a variety of scenic views of the sea and Pacific Ocean. There are several hiking trails, cycle paths and cross-country ski trails, but the forest trails are not open to cyclists as they are heavily used by cars, motorhomes and trailers. Please follow all signs and look for traffic lights and other traffic signs at the end of each route.

There are many interesting plants and animals to be observed in the forest, and if you hunt at certain times of the year, animals and plants are protected. Summer programs are planned at the Nature Center Lodge Building and listed on the national events page.

Do not destroy plants, leave them for others to enjoy and do not leave plants behind for someone else to visit. Garbage can spoil your visit, so please do not destroy plants or leave garbage in the forest, even garbage bags.

A main feature of Point Beach is the lighthouse, which has been operated by the Coast Guard here since 1853. The lighthouse is an important tourist attraction and a magnet for visitors to the State Park and the beach.

The first lighthouse was a brick tower and served the sailors until 1894, when a new steel tower was built. Light comes from the steel towers that rise 113 feet above the surface of the lake and are among the largest and brightest of the Great Lakes. It is 19 miles away and can be seen in all hours from sunset to sunrise.

The old brick lighthouse was demolished and part of a guest house, but has since been filled in and filled in. The building, framed by evergreen trees and blue skies, has become a landscape attraction in Wisconsin.

Before the new lighthouse was built, 26 ships failed or ran aground on the site, and there were more than 1,000 shipwrecks along the coasts of Point Beach State Forest.

Another occurred in 1887, when the steamship Vernon sank in rough seas, killing 36 crew members and passengers on the Vernon, one of the largest steamers on the lake at the time.

However, the tragedy came to an end after the lighthouse was opened, and its demise remains a mystery. The lighthouse has been open to visitors since 2002, guided tours are not normally possible. You can watch and photograph it from the beach and it can be viewed and photographed from any beach. I was only able to photograph from a distance of about 300 meters from the shore, so the sinking of the Vernon and the death of its passengers remain a mystery.
