About Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and Preserve
Wrangell - Saint Elias National Park is located in southeastern Alaska and is one of the largest national parks in the United States and the second largest in Alaska. From Glennallen, the Glenn Highway meets the Richardson Highway, which bypasses the western boundary of the park on its way north and south.
The two highways cross the park on dirt roads, and the Tok Cutoff comes from the Alaska Highway to the south. And then the Richardson Highway to the north.
The northern park area is reached by Nabesna Road, which stretches 45 miles from Slana to Nabedna, and Chitina - McCarthy Road, which stretches from Chitina to the Kennicott River west of McCarthy. The heart of the park leads you through the northern part of Wrangell - National Park and Nature Reserve Saint Elias.
