About Pinnacle Mountain State Park Visitor Center
Pinnacle Mountain is a full-day park dedicated to environmental education, recreation and environmental protection. The summit of the mountain is one day - only one park with a total of 10,000 square meters of park space, with all days of the park devoted to environmental education, recreation and environmental protection.
Located west of Little Rock, this natural setting is the first state park in Arkansas to be connected to a large urban area since 1977. Pinnacle Mountain, operated by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (DNR) and Arkansas State Parks, is dedicated to conservation, recreation and environmental education. Park interpreters and volunteers help visitors and students understand the diversity of natural habitats in this 2,000-hectare park. Special interpreting programs, which are carried out by park interpreters, can be arranged by contacting the park or by e-mail.
The conical summit of the mountain has long been a landmark of Arkansas, home to the Arkansas State Capitol, the state's tallest building, and a number of state parks.
Parking facilities include a parking lot on the top of the mountain with access to the main parking lot of the park and a small parking lot on the east side of Pinnacle Mountain.
The Arkansas Arboretum is located near the park in an area of 71 hectares where native flora represents the six most important natural divisions of Arkansas. The park's visitor center overlooks the Arkansas River and includes a visitor center, picnic area, restrooms and other visitor facilities.
Camping is not allowed in Pinnacle Mountain State Park, but campsites are available in Maumelle Park, a park of the US Army Corps of Engineers on the Arkansas River. The park has a campsite, picnic area, toilets and other visitor facilities, as well as picnic areas and toilets on the river side of the park. A small portion of the Arkansas Arboretum, the largest of its kind in the United States, is located in both Pinnacles Mountain and the Little Maumselle River, along with the Arboreums.
Pinnacles Mountain State Park and Maumelle Park will be closed one hour before sunset, and the picnic area, picnic areas, restrooms and other visitor facilities will close one - half an hour after sunset and close at sunset.
