The park is a great place to swim, hike, bike, picnic and hike in the Sacramento River, and hike and cycle along the trails.

The 4,350-acre park features 28 kilometers of hiking trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail, which also runs through the park. In the 1920s and 1930s, conservationists promoted the idea of a comprehensive California national park, working to protect the rocks of Castle Cligs and spread the beauty of the landscape. The rocks of the area have been the scene of battles between the inhabitants and settlers since 1855. In a one-sided battle, recorded by Joaquin Miller, the natives, armed only with bows and arrows, were driven from their land. For centuries, the most important industry on the rock was the mining of gold, silver, copper and other precious metals for mining and mining equipment.

Castle Crags State Park is located on the east side of the Shasta Mountains, north of Redding, California. The way to the ridge can be crossed on the old California - Oregon Toll Road.

Take the exit Castella and follow the access road to the parking lot Vista Point, follow a sign to the park and park.

The path climbs steeper, snaking through boulders and flat rocks, and the trees become sparser the higher you get. The end of the trail is at the foot of a round castle dome and from here you can climb to your heart's content on the rocks. Practice caution and do not exceed your abilities, but trees open up here and trees become sparser with increasing height, so exercise caution.
