It was an extraordinary event when this dream came true and the man with the vision in the window over the river became the rallying point for many northern Delawareans. It has been more than 20 years since the Fox Point State Park and its neighboring communities, now known as "Fox Point," opened. Although every park in the Delaware state park system has its fair share of scenic views of the Delaware River, Fox says it deserves something more unique.

Fox Point State Park and its neighboring communities boast more than 1,000 acres of scenic views of the Delaware River and riverside.

You can stand at the park's new viewing points and enjoy views of the Delaware River and Philadelphia skyline from the Pennsylvania State Capitol and Delaware Memorial Bridge. There is simply no other national park in the United States where such spectacular views are easily seen. Fox Point State Park is not only a great place to see, but also offers a range of wonderful educational opportunities.

The process of removing toxic waste landfills reminds us of how fragile natural resources can be and offers an important educational opportunity. The land on which this phase of Fox Point State Park was developed is a unique achievement.

The Delaware River has long been a working river, and Fox Point State Park provides a front-row seat to watch the river at work. The view of the tugs and tankers is really close, because the shipping route is only a few hundred meters away. Toxic waste dumps have been put back up, but the window has come too close to be closed, perhaps forever.

The river also offers recreational opportunities historically, and the opening of Fox Point State Park is the first step toward reopening the river for recreational use. FoxPoint State Park is a place where the whole family can relax, take a walk, picnic or just watch the rivers. In addition, the park features interpretative displays describing the functions of the various ships that sail the river.

For larger events, two gazebos can be rented, and there are more active activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, fishing or other outdoor activities.

Fox Point State Park serves as the gateway to the 90-mile-long Greenway coastal heritage that stretches from Cape Henlopen State Park. This green space highlights Delaware's natural, cultural and recreational diversity.

The park is also the easternmost point of the northern Delaware Greenway and it is just the beginning. Fox Point State Park is the first of its kind in Delaware and one of the few in the country.

The window is a tribute to the late S. Marston Fox, who designed and worked for this land and
parkland, to community leaders like the youngest Tom Snell, who was Mr. Fox's vision and began to implement it.

Another 145 hectares are to be developed over time and when other parts of the park are completed, this extraordinary window on the river will open to the public.
