About Cape Henlopen State Park

The beach at Cape Henlopen attracts thousands of visitors who swim in the sea and sunbathe. From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, the two designated beaches offer lifeguard patrols, and the beach itself is open to all.

The northern swimming pool also features a changing room, picnic area, picnic tables, bar and restaurant. In summer you can rent umbrellas and sunbathe on the beach during the winter months, for $5 per day or $10 per week for a full day.

A basketball court encourages active exercise and an 18-hole disco golf course promotes friendly competition. A picnic pavilion in the officers "club building can be reserved for group events, and a basketball and beach volleyball court is open to the public. Winter hunting is allowed in all areas of the park, but a hunting permit is required, which you can obtain at the park office.

The park also offers a variety of fun leisure activities including hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, camping and fishing, to name a few. Cape Henlopen offers a range of family celebrations, such as family picnics, beach parties, weddings, family celebrations and more.

Experience the ever-changing landscape of the park, learn about its history, take a break and climb the World War II observation tower, where the 360-degree views are spectacular. Climb to watch the dynamic goings-on - continue, experience the view of Cape Henlopen from the lookout towers and learn about the history of the oldest and most famous lighthouse in the world, as well as its history.
