About Herrington Manor State Park

Herrington Manor State Park is located in Garrett State Forest in Garrett County and was developed in 1930 with the help of the Civilian Conservation Corps and designed as a state park in 1964. Herrington Creek Dam has created a 53-acre lake and ten cottages have been built on a wooded hill overlooking the lake. In the 1930s and 1940s, Herrington Manor covered 365 acres, with a total area of 1,500 acres, according to the National Park Service.

The park offers rowing boats and 20 fully equipped log cabins, which can be rented all year round. Interpretative programs are planned throughout the summer, and each year the Herrington Manor State Park Heritage Festival is held, an annual celebration of the park's history and heritage.

The cabins are available all year round and can be rented for a minimum stay of two nights, which requires a price of $5 per person per day or $10 per night for two people.

There is also a 5.5 km long hiking trail that runs through the park, from the parking lot to the waterfalls, and a 1.6 km long hiking trail to a waterfall. The park offers a variety of trails for beginners who feel intermediate, such as the 3.8 foot long, 2.7 kilometer long and 1000 yard long trails. All parking lanes are set up in accordance with the conditions permitted, with a minimum of two parking spaces per vehicle and a maximum of three spaces per car.

Discounts are available daily, such as toilets, fireplaces and tables, as well as a picnic area with picnic tables and other amenities.

Sledges can be rented for $6 per day or $3 per half day, snowshoes can be rented for up to 15 days or 13 ½ days. Snacks, gifts and ski rental are available, and there are rental prices that include ski boots and poles.

Rental options range from $8 to $30 for 16 days or $16 if conditions are good and safe skiing. The rent is to be paid in full and the apartments are closed over Christmas and New Year, but the sets may not be removed from the park or the forest area.

Directions to Swallow Falls State Park: Turn right on Mayhew Inn Road and drive one - and - one - half mile to the end of the road and turn right on Swallows Falls Road. At the intersection with the motorway, turn left and drive for about 1.5 km until you turn left into the parking lot for the swimming pool and picnic area. Drive through the park, turn right onto Sw Falls Road and then turn left onto the road for about 1.5 miles.

At the end of the road, turn right onto Swallows Falls Road and continue for approximately one and a half miles until you turn left onto Mayhew Inn Road.

Turn left at the intersection of Swallow Falls State Park Drive and follow this for a few miles before turning right onto Swallows fall onto the road and walk a - and - a - half mile. At the end of the road, drive approximately one mile and turn right onto Swallows Falls Road and continue for approximately one mile until you turn left onto Mayhew Inn Road.

Leave the parking lot on the left of Mayhews Inn Rd and drive west for about half a mile on Swallow Falls State Park Drive before turning right onto Sw Swallows fall onto the road.

Turn left at the intersection of Swows Falls Drive and drive west along Sw Allowance Road for 1 mile until you turn left into the park and then right into Sw swallow Falls State Park.

At the end of the road, turn right onto Sw Allowance Road and drive west for approximately one mile until you turn left onto Mayhew Inn Road.

At the end of the road, turn right onto Swallow Falls Road and drive one - and - one - half mile until you turn left onto Mayhew Inn Road. Head west on Swallows Falls State Park Road, following Rt. Road. Turn right onto Mayhews Inn Road and travel approximately one mile west before turning left into the Sw Allowance Road parking lot on the east side. Drive west to the entrance of the Sw swallows Falls state park, turn right into Sw swallows Falls Park, then right again into the park entrance.
