About Big Run State Park

Garrett County's Big Run State Park covers more than 300 acres and offers an even broader range of recreational activities. The park is located at the mouth of the Savage River Reservoir and is located on the west side of Savage Creek, south of the Big Creek State Forest. The park is actually surrounded by Savage River and State Forest and is actually surrounded from all sides by the River State Forest. This park, along with other state parks in the area, such as Big River Park, offers even more leisure activities!

With a boat launch, Big Run is a great place for outdoor lovers who want to fish, camp, hike or hunt. There is also a 6-mile trail known as the Monroe Run, with a 1.5 mile trail from the river to the Big Creek State Forest.

There is a picnic pavilion that can accommodate up to 100 people without reservation, and there are picnic tables, picnic chairs, a water park and picnic tables.
