About Swallow Falls State Park

This mountain park is located five miles north of Oakland, Maryland, and the Youghiogheny River flows through the park and through shady canyons. Muddy Creek Falls is a crashing waterfall on the east side of the creek, just a few meters above the river. High hemlock and hemlock dominate the quiet forest, with a small waterfall in the middle and a waterfall in the middle.

The winding path to Swallow Falls takes hikers to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in western Maryland. Maryland State Park is a state park in the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, and for full information visit its official website.

Directions to Swallow Falls State Park: Turn right on Mayhew Inn Road and drive one - and - one - half mile to the end of the road and turn right on Swallows Falls Road. Turn left at the intersection of Swallow Falls Drive and Swallowed Falls Boulevard and drive approximately half a mile until you turn left into the parking lot of a local grocery store on the north side of Mayhews Inn Drive.

Hours after the RT from Washington to Swallow Falls State Park and then back to Washington, D.C., about an hour and a half to two hours.

Proceed to Swallow Falls State Park: Turn right on Mayhew Inn Road, drive one - and - one - half mile to the end of the road and turn right on Swallows Falls Road. At the crossroads of swallows turn left Falls Drive and Sw Falls Road drive about 1.5 to 2 miles until you turn left into the parking lot of the D.C. National Wildlife Refuge. Drive through the park, turn right on Sw Alloway Drive, then left on the driveway and then right again on Sw Falls Road.

Turn right onto Mayhew Inn Road, walk one - and a - half mile to the end of the road and turn left into the parking lot of the D.C. National Wildlife Refuge. On to Swallow Falls State Park: Turn left on Sw Alloway Drive, turn right on Swallows Falls Road and drive approximately 1.5 to 2 miles until you pass the intersection of Swallows and Sw Falls Drive.

Turn right onto Mayhew Inn Road, walk one - and a - half mile to the end of the road and turn left into the parking lot of the D.C. National Wildlife Refuge. Continue to Swallow Falls State Park: Turn left on Sw Alloway Drive, turn right on Swallows Falls Road and drive approximately 1.5 to 2 miles until you pass the intersection of Swallows and Sw Falls Drive.

Turn right Sw swallows Falls Road, gogo 1.5 miles to and from the ends of both roads and travel about 2 to 3 miles. Hours after the RT from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and then turn off at the exit for US Route 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5.
