About Coopers Rock State Forest
Coopers Rock State Forest takes its name from the refugees who hid from the law at the current observation point. I have lived and worked in the forest for many years and have lived and worked in it myself. Cooperatives, people from the surrounding communities sold their barrels and were built for their new refuge in these mountains.
The Cheat River Gorge is lined with rock formations and offers numerous views, but the heart is the main view, which offers a panorama of the gorge and the distant horizon.
A maze of huge boulders and rocks fascinates hikers, and a series of streams invite you to explore. Several trails wind through forest valleys and ridges, but some trails are particularly beautiful, such as the Cheat River Gorge Trail, which winds through the forest.
The Glade Run is dammed by a 6-hectare pond, regularly stocked with trout, and the Cheat River Gorge Trail.
During the Great Depression (1936-42), the Civil Protection Corps (CCC) erected numerous structures in the forest, often making it difficult for trees to succumb to the spots that almost wiped out the species. Eleven structures, including rustic picnic lodgings and viewing platforms, are on the National Register of Historic Places. Attentive hikers can sometimes be seen and heard through the woods, as well as bird sounds and other animal species such as squirrels and birds.
The campsites are open from April 1st to August 2nd and from January to the end of September, but all 25 campsites have electricity. All pets must be kept on a leash and not left unattended. All campsites must be open between April 1st and December 1st.

The rest is rented on the basis of the First - come, first - service, and everything is done by assigning and reserving a desired campsite, such as a campsite, picnic area or other campsite.

Numerous picnic areas and three refuges provide the pleasure of the forest visitors. These places offer tables, barbecues, drinking water and toilets, as well as a variety of other amenities such as fireplaces and picnic tables.
This accommodation is reserved and can accommodate up to 100 people and acts like electricity, but must be reserved due to its proximity to the creek.
Almost 50 miles of heavily traveled hiking trails wind through the forest, so visitors can enjoy both walking and cycling.
