About Belleplain State Forest
The Belleplain State Forest was established by the State of New Jersey as a result of the 1934 Afforestation Act, the first state forest law in the United States. The afforestation law stipulated that workers should work in the forest for eight years. The wooded hectares of Belle Plain comprise about 1,500 hectares of forest, reflecting the pine forests to the north and south, and the forests to the east and west.
Meisle Moor has been converted by the CCC into the Belle Plain National Wildlife Refuge, the first national wildlife refuge in the United States. It was also built and houses the New Jersey State Forest Service, the state's National Park Service and the U.S. Army.
The hotel is located on the east side of Meisle Moor, north of the lake and is accessible from East Creek Trail. The living room is furnished and the kitchen is fully equipped with a full range hob, hob and stove.
The yurts are two bunk beds that can accommodate up to four people each, each with its own bedding and private bathroom and a bathroom.
All toilets, showers and laundry rooms are within walking distance, as well as a full service kitchen and laundry room.
The landfill is open from 1 March to 30 November and can accommodate up to 75 people. Group campsites: The group campsite can be set up in the landfill car park or in one of two car parks either on the north or south side of the city.
One can accommodate up to six people, while the other can accommodate between six and eight people on a maximum of four days a week.
All toilets, showers and washrooms are within walking distance, and swimming is allowed as long as a lifeguard is in use.
Pets are not allowed on the beach and only life jackets approved by the Coast Guard are allowed.
Within walking distance of the swimming area, visitors will find toilets, showers, washrooms and changing rooms. Swimming and swimming equipment such as kayaks, rafts and other swimming equipment are not allowed in the swimming area, pets are not allowed near the beaches.
Belleplain offers picnic areas for large groups, but groups of 20 or more must reserve the picnic area at least five days in advance. On public holidays, such group use is only permitted with the superintendent's consent. The picnic and recreation areas of the Belleplain State Forest can accommodate up to 20 people with picnic tables, chairs, picnic benches, playground equipment and other picnic utensils.
Reservations for picnic areas are made by the individual parking lot office of the Belleplain State Forest Service (ORS) on the park grounds.
The Belleplain State Forest can be reached by taking Exit 17 southbound on Maine State Highway (I-95) and Exit 16 northbound. Highway signs point you in the right direction, and a sign at the park entrance points you in the right direction.
