About Pilot Butte State Park
Walk up and down one of three trails and explore the old cinder cones east of Bend, or stand between juniper and sage and hike up.
The road leads up to the summit with views of Mt. Baldy, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Pacific Crest Trail.
Once you reach the top, you can prepare for a magnificent view of the high desert. The snow-capped cascades on the mountain offer a spectacular show at sunset to the west, but the highlight is the view of Mt. Baldy and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Since there is no drinking water in the park, bring something to quench your thirst and bring a bottle of water or water.
