About Givhans Ferry State Park

Givhans Ferry State Park is located on a 56-mile stretch of the Edisto River known as the Canoe and Kayak Trail. Built in the 1930s by the Civil Conservation Unit on the limestone cliffs of the Edistos River by a civil nature conservation organization, it has been a popular land and sea destination since its opening in 1930. The Edistso is a tributary of the free-flowing Blackwater River, an important source of drinking water for the city of Charleston, SC.

The waterfront park is protected as a Heritage Trust site due to some rare plant species that live there, and there are a large number of rare bird species and rare animal species. In the early days, land travelers used the ferry to reach Charleston and the interior of the area, which continues to attract locals and visitors from near and far. The parks are located along the Corridor of National Heritage, which stretches for more than 240 miles across the state.

The rental building is ideal for meetings and special occasions, and reserved meeting rooms are called Edisto River Conference Center and Conference Room. The complex, which can accommodate up to 100 people, is handicapped accessible and has a large veranda overlooking the EDISTO River and an outdoor terrace overlooking the river.

Take Exit 187 off I-26 Highway and turn left onto Givhans Ferry Rd for 17 miles. Turn left at the entrance to the Edisto River Conference Center and Conference Room, then right onto EdISTO River Road and then right again onto the street.
