About Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park

Quail Hollow is a 40-room country house surrounded by scenic woodland paths, gardens and houses, offering a variety of natural and cultural experiences. The beautiful forests, paths and gardens surrounding the house offer visitors a wide range of scenic views of the State Park and offer visitors variety in nature, culture, experiences and a diverse variety of flora and fauna.

The Quail Hollow State Park and its surroundings are the result of a glaciation that took place 12,000 years ago. Natural lakes are a feature of the glaciated landscape; these waters are formed when large chunks of ice break off from glaciers and melt into sinks that form basins into lakes. The glaciers have an average depth of about 400 meters and a surface area of 1.5 million square miles.

Near Congress Lake is one of Ohio's natural lakes, and Quail Hollow Lake, the largest of its kind in the state. Most of them are classified as marshes or "swamps" because of their proximity to the lake and the depth of the water.

The diversity of habitat in the Quail Cave for a wide range of plant and animal populations and the diversity of the lake's water quality result in a wide variety of bird and mammal species.

The forest swamps are home to springgrass warblers and green frogs, while deciduous and coniferous forests are home to white-tailed deer, black bears, coyotes and many other species.

There is a beaver colony on the northern edge of the park and beavers live in the peat bogs. Tall grasses and prairies support a variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds of prey and other wildlife.

At the turn of the 19th century, border guards from Northeast Ohio came to Northeast Ohio to serve as soldiers in the U.S. border war with Mexico.

One of the first settlers to arrive in the region was Conrad Brumbaugh, and when the land was still wilderness, the American Indians had already been pushed west. By 1810, much of Stark County had virtually disappeared, and most of it had been taken by the Indians.

The first house on the new plot was built on a plot that would later become a park, and it was a two-story log cabin measuring 24 x 24. The house was destroyed by fire many years later, but in 1842 a wooden house was built in which the original hut was located.

In 1914 Harry Bartlett Stewart began the construction of the Brumbaugh Homestead and other lands, which eventually totaled 720 hectares. The small farmhouse on Minnie Taylor Farm was built in 1838 and named after the original Stewart wing adjacent to the Brumbaughes "farmstead and the Stewart family.

The house was completed in 1929 and became the permanent home of the Stewart family and used for many years before it was owned by the stewards of Quail Hollow State Park for the rest of their lives. The house seems to reflect the family's love of hunting in the fall and autumn season, as well as in the summer and autumn seasons.

Stewart was born to his father and in 1937 the estate was given to his mother and her husband John Stewart Jr. and their children.

The Stewart family lived there until 1975, when they offered the land and buildings to the state for part of its estimated value. The US Department of the Interior provided funds to the state for the purchase of Quail Hollow State Park. On May 15, 1975, Quail Hollow was added to the National Register of Historic Places, the first of its kind in the United States.
