About Flambeau River State Forest

The Flambeau River State Forest was officially established in the 1930s, and after it began with 3600 hectares of public land, the forest has grown to over 90,000 hectares.

The northern and southern fork of the Flambeau River joins the forest and offers spectacular views of the river and its tributaries and the lake. The river is an important life force in this forest and from its tree-lined banks you can observe a variety of wildlife such as deer, elk, elk, wolf, coyote, bear and wolf. Canoeing is the most popular activity in the forests, but also the rivers are dominated in autumn and create a spectacular autumn landscape, especially in autumn and early winter.

The different sections of the river offer varying levels of difficulty and offer a variety of activities, such as canoeing, kayaking, rafting, hiking and hiking.

The North Fork is ideal for beginners, while the South Fork is suitable for advanced canoeists.
