About Rickwood Caverns State Park
Experience the thrill of Rickwood's Wonderland Mile and become part of one of the most popular campsites in the state of Florida. The park has a variety of hiking, cycling, camping and fishing sites, as well as a number of picnic areas.
Rickwood Caverns is a recognized member of the National Caves Association and offers more than a mile of living geology. The caves themselves are so deep that they have been formed by the flow of water and air through the caves over thousands of years, with a total depth of about 1,000 feet.
Rickwood Caverns contains active, vibrant formations in which mineral-laden water drops form colourful structures of flowing stone. The cave ceilings and walls are decorated with fragments of shells and fossils of marine life, and guided tours present many curiosities. Rickwood Cave shows signs that it was carved out of the sea floor by the flow of water and air over thousands of years, as well as the presence of fossils and life fossils.
Rickwood has a number of developed and landscaped campsites (9) that can accommodate trailers and campers of any size, and all facilities include toilets, seasonal showers and a landfill. The picnic area at Rickwood offers a variety of food and beverages, as well as picnic tables and chairs. The snack bar and dining room are available as meeting rooms but are not open to the public. 24-hour monitoring of the campsite and camping facilities such as water, showers, toilets and fireplaces are available. The Olympic swimming pool is open from 10 am to 5 pm, with a pool house, picnic table and picnic areas.
Hiking trails and a children's playground are nearby, and Rickwood's small gazebo is perfect for family celebrations. In the following calendar years, shelters are available for company picnics and family celebrations.
The accommodation includes light, electricity, water tables and barbecues, and all accommodation includes light and a water table and barbecue. Alabama State Parks recognizes geocaching as a way to provide individuals and families with additional outdoor activities in the park. In order to ensure the safety of guests and to maintain the proper management of natural resources, we have introduced a "no geocoaching" policy. This requires that all geosites hidden in any of Alabama's national parks must be approved by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (CDNR) and the State Park Service.
Before hiding a geocache, submit your permit to the park manager of your national park and check it.
Please provide proof that the permit has been received and confirmed by the park manager or planner.
We spent a week at various primitive campsites, went on numerous cave tours and spent many hours in the caves. Our guide was absolutely wonderful, and Alabama fan Bat Man was a hoot, but he's a bit of a mystery to me.
I think my family enjoyed the guide as much as the caves, but I was 12 or 14 when we last visited Rickwood Caverns. The caves themselves were fantastic and really felt like they were part of the park and not just a tourist attraction in a small town. Some stairs were foodies, which I did over and over again.
I think the entrance fee was about 75 cents at the time, but I remember feeding myself in the cave water in a swimming pool.
It was a popular church - a great trip, and I hope to have a family reunion there when the weather gets a little warmer. I've been there and I have grandchildren who need that experience now, so I hope we'll have it again when we get back.
I left my family a few years ago but we had a lot of fun and plan to return in October so we are looking forward to a great time.
Annual passes are available all year round - for individuals, families and seniors, for individuals, families or seniors. The passes expire after one year without issue and allow access to all the park's amenities such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hiking and camping.
