About Prairie Dog State Park
Prairie Dog State Park is a great place to experience the Short Grassland Prairie in western Kansas.
The park is home to a thriving prairie dog colony and is one of the state's best places for hiking, biking, camping, hiking and camping.
Shower and toilet facilities are conveniently located, as are two RV parks and group campsites in the Branded Cedar area. The Prairie Dog campsite has two campsites, one for adults and two for children under 12 years of age.
Two historic buildings from the 19th century have been preserved here, including a renovated mud house and an old barn. Historical interpretation is a hallmark of the park and it is a great way to explore and observe the wildlife.
The Sebelius reservoir is known for its excellent fishing opportunities and in recent years, anglers have discovered it as a popular fishing destination in the Great Lakes region.
The Norton Wildlife Area offers great views of pheasants, waterfowl and rabbits, and there are white mules.
The entrance to the park is located at US36, just south of the intersection of US Highway 36 and US-36A, near the Prairie Dog State Park parking lot.
