About Hoeft State Park
P.H. Hoeft State Park offers Roebuck Lodge in P & H HOEft Park for rent. The park is densely wooded and has 144 modern campsites and mini-huts, and it houses more than 1,000 hectares of forest, wetlands, rivers, lakes and streams.
Bed linen and towels are provided and guests are expected to clean the lodge before leaving. Roebuck Lodge accommodation at P.H. Hoeft State Park features a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, showers and laundry facilities, as well as a laundry room.
Directly across the lake is the Great Lakesship Beach, with a shared stone fireplace and great views of the shores of Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes.
The original estate was donated on 2 January 1922 by the wood baron Paul H. Hoeft, and in the park there is a museum of his life's work and a monument to his wife Maria. For those who are preparing for skiing in winter, there is an outdoor ski resort, a ski lodge, a picnic area and a toboggan run.
Two horseshoe boxes are also available, and two playgrounds are available for swimming and sunbathing within 100 meters of the modern campsites.
The picnic cabins offer a beautiful view of Lake Huron and can be rented at 989 - 734 - 2543. There are two volleyball courts between the campsites and the beach area, and horseshoes can be made at the contact point.
The building was built by the Civil Conservation Corps in 1938 and is the oldest building in the park and the only one of its kind in Michigan, according to the state.
The park has hiking trails that lead to the shores of Lake Huron, and there are plenty of wildflowers to see, especially in spring. It stretches from Rogers City and starts during the day and runs all year round, starting at 7: 30 a.m. and ending at 12 noon on weekends and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays.
The trail also leads to the Hermann Vogler nature reserve, which includes a seven-kilometre hiking and cycling trail. The park is a great place for travelers planning activities in the Strait, as it leads to Lake Huron, the Great Lakes, Lake Erie and the St. Lawrence River.
Cyclists can use the Mackinac Bridge, which is 50 miles northwest of the US city of Rogers City, and Lake Huron, Erie and the St. Lawrence River.
