About Stone Mountain State Park

Stone Mountain is immediately visible when you enter the park of the same name, but the magnificent granite dome is worth the wait.

White-tailed deer come from the forest to graze on the meadows at the foot of this mountain.

The landscape is only one attraction in this park, but it is also home to many other animal species such as elk, coyotes and wolves.

In 1975 Stone Mountain was declared a National Natural Monument, and you can hike along the 16 km of trails that the park has. You can test your fly fishing techniques in the designated trout waters, on the lake and the river.

One of the most spectacular features of the park is Stone Mountain State Park, the largest natural monument in the United States. Another major feature is the volcanic rock formation, a combustible rock formed by molten lava on the surface of the Earth. Stone Mountain, with its spectacular views of New York and New Jersey, is one of the most breathtaking features of the mountain. Situated on a hillside near the town of St. Paul, New Hampshire, about 30 km northwest of Boston, this hotel offers a beautiful mountain range, tranquil forests and spectacular views of Mount Everest.

In the past, damp springs dug troughs as water flowed down the sloping walls of the mountain.

Wind, water and other forces have eroded the soft rock layer between the granite blocks, revealing the boulder that we see today.

Stone Mountain was founded in 1969 and declared a National Natural Monument in 1975, and was declared a National Park in 1990. Before Stone Mountain became a national park, it was populated by families from England, Germany, Ireland and France who established the necessary independent communities. The area is surrounded by a series of hills and valleys as well as a number of lakes, rivers, streams and streams.

This branch leads directly to the park office, from where the family campsite is located, and the site has a tent shelter, tables and barbecue.

Nearby there is a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic benches and a large picnic table, as well as a few picnic chairs and tables.

Next to the campsite is a landfill for registered campers, but there is no supply. The campsites are open all year round and park staff will issue permits at each location. There are a number of picnic tables, picnic benches and a picnic table, as well as a few picnic chairs and tables.

The gates of the park are closed daily with a specified closing time and campers are not allowed to leave the park after closing at 8 am unless it is an emergency. In an emergency, go to the car park where emergency procedures are in place. This page is available on the basis of "first come, first served," but please do not enter the parked cars or parking spaces without permission.

Four group campsites are available for a reservation fee only and each site can accommodate up to 25 people. Please behave and place yourself in a safe place, such as the car park or the multi-storey car park.

Six backpack campsites are located at Widow's Creek, and the distance to these sites is approximately one mile from the main entrance to Stone Mountain State Park. The road to this location leads via the parking lot and into the hinterland, and there is no distance between the locations.

Camping in the hinterland is possible, but supplies must be packed at the campsite and the minimum load should be respected. The backcountry campsites are registered with Stone Mountain State Park and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).

More than 17 miles of the park's streams are designated trout waters, and the Garden Widow and Big Sandy are the only two streams where only artificial bait and hooks are allowed. Stone Mountain State Park, which covers more than 1,000 acres, is designated a trout stream and covers more than 3,500 square miles.

The East Prong Roaring River is classified as a delayed river - the trout river bordered by the Garden Widow, Big Sandy and the filled river. Only individual swastika flies may be used and no water is required, but you can contact the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) for more information on the fisheries regulations at Stone Mountain State Park or to assist in enforcing W RCR regulations within the park.

This section is only for fishing and release and is open on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm. 5: 00 to 6: 30 p.m. weekdays until the park closes. Fun Fishing - Fishing in the East Prong Roaring River section of Stone Mountain State Park is only allowed Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A special fishing permit is required for this area, which can be purchased at the Bullhead Creek car park. Permits are issued daily and no barbed-tail nets are required, but special permits are also required for the section of the East Prong Roaring River in Stone Mountain State Park.

Two accessible fishing jetties are located on the East Prong Roaring River and there is barrier-free parking on the jetty. Other people can use the pillars to design for people with reduced mobility when space is available.

The 1.5 km trail is accessed via the Stone Mountain Loop Trail and offers views of the bluff of Blue Ridge Mountain. The trail leads for two miles to a waterfall and Wolf Rock, a large granite rock offering spectacular views of Red Mountain and the East Prong Roaring River. A ridge separating the river from the Bullhead River, the largest river in North Carolina, can also be seen from Wolf Rock.

Along the path, traces of ancient fields and traces of the road can be seen, and the old road bed follows the edge of a densely wooded area in the middle of the park.

In winter, this strenuous hike offers a wonderful view of Steinberg, and in summer it leads to a shady section covered with rhododendron and mountain gloryberries. This medium-difficulty, kilometre-long hike is informative and pleasant, starting at the foot of the mountain, a few hundred metres from the trail and about a mile up the road.

Along the way, information about the geology and vegetation of the park is provided. This trail is accessible via the Stone Mountain Loop Trail and leads hikers a mile from Big Sandy Creek to Middle Falls and then to Lower Falls. The trail follows Widow Creek, drives through the parking lot hinterland and leads the hiker one mile to Middle Falls and then on to Upper Falls and the Upper River.

After seeing Widow Creek Falls, you can hike to the top of Big Sandy Creek and then to the Upper Falls and Upper River.

This 5 km walk starts at the horse trailer parking lot and ends at the John P. Frank Parkway.

Visitors with horses must be able to provide a negative test for equine anemia or coggin before visiting North Carolina State Parks.

The terrain at the top of Stone Mountain may seem flat, but it is gradually getting steeper, and deviating from the path carries the risk of becoming stranded as the lower sections of rock are almost vertical.

In case of wet rocks, extreme caution is required. You should always avoid steep outcrops and stay on the designated paths, as waterfalls and steep, rocky terrain can create dangerous slippery conditions.

Rangers regularly hold courses on hiking, camping, climbing and other outdoor activities at Stone Mountain State Park. Please contact the park office for further information on organizing group courses or organising your own group hike or hike - a - thon.

Stone Mountain introduces students to basic geological concepts with an emphasis on Stone Mountain. The programme is accompanied by a teacher's booklet and workshops, which are free of charge for teachers. The most important concepts include geology, geophysics, volcanology and geochemistry, geosciences and the history of rocks. This is linked to the Competence-based Curriculum and is developed for grades 5-8 and for grades 4-6.

Climbing is allowed in designated areas on the cliffs of Stone Mountain and is only recommended for beginners, unless accompanied by an experienced climber. Climbers must register with an activity permit, which is available at the park office. There is no fee for the permit, but climbing is only permitted on designated rocks on Stone Mountain, for a fee of $1 per person per day.

During the activity, you must insert a copy of your driving licence in the registration box and hand it over to the parking attendant.

Basic safety equipment and techniques for climbing must be used at all times and all participants are responsible for their personal safety, including ensuring their own safety and the safety of their environment. All climbers must present a valid climbing and abseiling permit and register with the park staff. Each participant receives an additional copy and must have had it in his possession before climbing or descending.

Fixed-anchor climbing routes are not maintained or installed by NC State Parks, and new routes do not allow for the installation of new anchors or new climbing and abseiling equipment in the park.

Climbers climb at their own risk and are responsible for proper equipment and training, and accidents and injuries must be reported to park staff. Please note that climbers and rappellers must plan their activities in advance and leave the park at certain closing times.

The farm was built in the mid-19th century and visitors can listen to recordings explaining how the various aspects of the farm were managed. The farmhouse is complete with private garden and leads through the old barn and the barn yard, as well as the original barn house itself.

This farmhouse, restored in 1998, is representative of the life of the early settlers in the area.

From March to October it is open to visitors every Thursday and Sunday, and visitors can visit the farmhouse when it is closed during the winter weeks.
