About Kings Gap State Park
Kings Gap is located on South Mountain and offers panoramic views of the Cumberland Valley. A 16 km long hiking trail connects the three main areas and is open all year round. It is accessible on foot, by bike or on horseback and connects with other trails.
Kings Gap offers a unique opportunity to solve environmental problems by using natural resources such as water, land and wildlife. It seeks to fulfil its mission of teaching about the critical environmental problems facing our society.
It also helps to teach skills that make us appreciate and enjoy nature, such as hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, bird watching and other outdoor activities.
To achieve these goals, the center provides a wide range of educational opportunities to students, teachers, parents, staff and visitors to Kings Gap State Park. Through a variety of curricula, including activities selected by the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks and Activities for environmental learning, teachers and students explore the ecosystems of King's Gap to promote awareness and knowledge of the natural environment. A typical day brings several classes of students to the center to participate in discoveries - based environmental learning.
Staff at the center also train more than 1,000 students from across Pennsylvania, as well as local schools and community organizations, to participate in activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, bird watching and other outdoor activities.
Kings Gap runs a variety of teacher workshops based on environmental education curricula, including the Keystone Environmental Education Program (KEPCO), a partnership between the Center and the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks and Activities. The program develops students "ability to solve and solve complex environmental problems. They will also offer environmental resources tailored to their specific needs, such as water filters, water quality monitoring and other resources.
These four programmes offer young people the opportunity to explore and learn about the environment with their peers. During the summer months, young people aged 4 to 17 are invited to participate in various learning activities, including "Touching and Discovering the Environment," a four-week programme for children aged 4 to 17.
The centre offers a variety of activities for children and adults, such as outdoor activities, activities in the park and activities in the playground in the park.

Take Route 233, turn left onto Pine Road and drive one - and - one - half mile to the entrance of Kings Gap Environmental Education Center. The entrance to the centre is on the right and is located at the junction of the pine road with the parking lot for the park's multi-storey car park.
