About Pinnacle Rock State Park

Pinnacle Rock State Park is located on the banks of the Kanawha River in West Virginia, just a few miles south of Charleston, and is one of the more interesting river parks operated by West Virginia State Park. Pinnacle Rock, an unusual sandstone formation that extends up to 3,100 feet above sea level, rises above the river at the mouth of a river into the Pueblo River, about 30 miles east of Morgantown, Pennsylvania.

The park offers a variety of hiking, biking, camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and other recreational activities, as well as a range of other activities.

The park opened in 1938 when the Conservation Commission bought a 26-acre site around the rock, which was then built by the EPA in collaboration with the state of West Virginia. Today, nearly 400 hectares are within the park's boundaries, including Jimmy Lewis Lake, which is seasonally stocked with trout. Pinnacle Rock State Park offers visitors a variety of hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, recreational activities, and a variety of recreational facilities.

Each house can accommodate about 75 people, and the park's two bedrooms, one bathroom, can accommodate up to four people per room.
