About Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park is named after the Blackwater River, whose amber waters tumble five stories down and then wind through a five-mile-long gorge. There are 26-year deluxe cottages, and there is a 26-year-old - old, two-bedroom, one-bath house on the waterfalls. Black water is the name of hemlock and red spruce needles that fall from the cliffs above the river, south of Lake Michigan in Maine. The falls are about 1,000 feet above sea level, about two miles from Lake Superior.
