About Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park

The highlands provide an important refuge for birds, ensure the survival of aquatic plants and animals and protect the natural habitat of many fish species, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals. East of the skyscrapers of Jacksonville and west of our beaches, this state park protects more than 2,000 acres of wetlands, streams, lakes and rivers. The wildlife is rich and ranges from endangered American alligators to endangered forest storks, wild boars, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, squirrels and other wildlife.

The park has canoe and kayak launches, which are accessible through the swamps via 500-foot portals. Cyclists, hikers and road cyclists can explore various routes in the park, with access to a variety of trails and trails along the creek and lakes.
